MUNICIPALITY OF MORRIS-TURNBERRY

JOINT HEALTH AND SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING

Date- February 11, 2009  Time    12 noon  Place- Council room – 41342 Morris Road

Minutes

1.     Call to order: The meeting was called to order by Nancy Michie at
                       12:35pm will all members in attendance

2.     In attendance:

                        Nancy Michie

                        Ross Goll

                        Kim Johnston

                        Barry Shaw

3.     Minutes of the last meeting

The Minutes from December 15, 2008 were reviewed.

There were no comments from the Minutes.

The Minutes were approved by Consensus.

4.     Unfinished Business

Nancy Michie informed the committee that the Municipal office has been inspected by a Designer and plans are in the process for renovations.  Nancy also informed the Committee that the Bluevale Hall will be inspected by the Designer on February 20, 2009.

5.     Regular Reports:

a.     Workplace Inspections-  Inspection Results -  The Inspection reports were looked at.

Kim Johnston will look after inspecting the Fire Extinguishers in the Municipal office.

Kim Johnston will make up a new Schedule for March, 2009 inspections.

6.     New Business:

Nancy Michie handed out the Committee’s Certification card to verify everyone is a certified member  of the Health and Safety Committee.

Kim Johnston is to find a card holder or laminate the cards for the committee.

Barry Shaw explained that the Fuel pumps at Foxton Fuels are a safety hazard and should have fuel pumps at Turnberry Works Garage.  He explained that it is hard to cross over the highway and hard to maneuver the larger vehicles around Foxton Fuels.   Barry Shaw spoke to Mark Foxton and Mark said there would be no problem placing fuel tanks at the Turnberry Works Garage.  Nancy Michie will take this matter to Council.

Barry Shaw asked if there could be a higher allowance on safety clothing, since the price of clothing has increased.  He was looking at increase from $200.00 to $250.00.

Kim Johnston hopes to have all First Aid Kits inspected by the end of March, 2009.

7.     Date of Next meeting – The Next Health and Safety Meeting will be held on Thursday April 9, 2009 at 12:00 noon at the Morris-Turnberry Council Chambers.

8.     Adjournment – The Meeting was adjourned at 12:40pm
