MUNICIPALITY OF MORRIS-TURNBERRY

JOINT HEALTH AND SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING

Date- August 15, 2008  Time    12 noon  Place- Council room – 41342 Morris Road

Minutes

1.     Call to order: The meeting was called to order by Nancy Michie at
                         12:30pm will all members in attendance.

In attendance:

                        Barry O’Krafka

                        Ross Goll

                        Kim Johnston

                        Barry Shaw

2.     Minutes of the last meeting

The Minutes from June 13, 2008 were reviewed.

There were no comments from the Minutes.

The Minutes were approved by Consensus.

3.     Unfinished Business

Kim is to get a list of what is required in every First Aid Kit according to the location and need of the kit.  Also to get some labels to seal the kits and a record sheet to be used if something is removed from the First Aid Kit.

Barry O’Krafka will get more Construction Health and Safety Green books to have in every Municipal Truck so that they can be at every Job site.

Barry O’Krafka will get more bottled water if and when it is needed.

4.     Regular Reports:

Workplace Inspections-  Inspection Program -  Completed the First Health and Safety Inspection on June 24, 2008.

a.     Dates and Times for the second inspections were set for August 18^th and 19^th, 2008.

Dates and Time for the third inspections were set for September 15^th and 24^th, 2008.

The committee has decided to hold off on doing an inspection at the Bluevale Hall until the Hall board has had some time to fix a few issues that were taken to the board meeting by Bill Thompson on August 13, 2008.

Barry O’Krafka will contact Wayne at Pletch Electric in regards to  a free – standing Generator.

b.     Health & Safety Assessment.

The Health & Safety Assessment was given to the Committee members and they were asked to review it before the next meeting.

c.      Review of information from the Health & Safety Training Course.

The next Health & Safety Training will take place on November 12^th and 13^th, 2008. The results of the 1^st training course have not been received.

d.     Reports from members.

There were no reports from members.

5.     New Business:

Barry O’Krafka suggested that the summer students be provided orange safety shirts, due to the vests being hard to work in.

Kim is to set up a new inspection schedule before the next meeting.

Kim is to make binders for the Turnberry and Morris Works garages containing all information that has been sent out to the employees.

6.     Date of Next meeting – The Next Health and Safety Meeting will be held on Friday September 12, 2008 at 12:00 noon at the Morris-Turnberry Council Chambers.

7.     Adjournment – The Meeting was adjourned at 1:45pm
